Simple Yet Powerful Acts To Raise Awareness About Women's and Children's Rights

By Fatima Reyes | Writer

Raising awareness about women's rights
Raising awareness about women's rights

We still have a long way to go in eliminating violence against women and children. But even small acts of kindness can help strengthen efforts to promote women's and children's rights.

To celebrate Children's Month, Tahanan Sta. Luisa held its yearly Ms. TSL pageant. The theme for this year is "Healing, Hope, And Strength for All Women." The activity encouraged the girls to embrace their strengths and weaknesses and express their thoughts and emotions. It was a simple, fun, and memorable way to learn from each other's experiences while building self-confidence.

Tahanan Sta. Luisa also joined an Earth Bazaar with the theme "No To Violence Against Women and Children." Through the event, we were able to share about our programs to empower young girl survivors of abuse --- from urban gardening activities to sewing, art therapy, and more! Plus, we were also able to showcase seedlings, seeds, art note cards, and bed sets produced by the girls as part of their healing and recovery.

What a way to advance our advocacy while giving back in this season of sharing.
