In the Philippines, the start of the school year is during this month. The girls of Tahanan Sta. Luisa are very busy with their scheduled activities and their school - which is based on Alternative Learning System (ALS). The girls are grouped in three batches after assessing their knowledge and capacity of learning.
This month, the center was very lucky to have an approved small grant from the Helping Hands Program, an organization based in Singapore which helps kids thru its financial assistance for school expenses.
The center also has two new volunteers - Diana from ABV / Dev Concepts, which will be helping TSL in marketing the products created by the girls during their accessories - making session with Trish. The other one is Jonneke, a volunteer from Holland who will be assisting the two Social Workers of Tahanan.
June is a busy day indeed at Tahanan Sta. Luisa, and the staff and girls couldn't be any happier with all the blessings!

TSL girls during the day of photo shoot for PFAC
Tahanan Sta. Luisa this month had various activities - one of which was a day of photo shoot from Photogs For a Cause, an organization of professional photographers who provides photo shoot services for NGOs for free. The girls love their photo being taken; and they had so much fun posing for Ms. Tracey.
Children's Hour, one of TSL's donor, also organized a day at the Mind Museum for the girls in the center. Ms. Patricia of Children' Hour was very gracious enough to give the girls a chance to tour the museum which is famous for its being innovative and hi - tech.
The month of May started the three days a week accessories-making session being conducted by Trish, the Australian volunteer from ABV / Dev Concepts. She will be volunteering for TSL until June. By this time, the girls have accumulated many accessories ready for selling.
Tahanan Sta. Luisa is sincerely thankful for the continuous blessing they have been receiving; and we hope that they will continue helping the center in any way. Any help creates big impact for the girls of TSL.
Thank you very much!

TSL Staff on "Good Morning Club"
In this month of April, the girls of Tahanan Sta. Luisa are busy with their upcoming Recognition Day that will be held the next month. Recognition Day is a program held once a year to commemorate and celebrate the exam passers and to acknowledge all the hard work of the girls the past year (academically). TSL also gives them different special awards to boosts their morale and to keep them inspired to study hard and to continue to reach their dreams of finishing their studies.
Tahanan Sta. Luisa continues to work with different volunteers – one of which was from Australia. Miss Trish will be volunteering to TSL for three months to help develop and produce better designs for the accessories-making sessions of the TSL girls. Miss Trish is a volunteer sent by ABV / Dev Concepts / Australian Embassy. She will render her services for 3 months for free, and her accommodations and allowance will be provided by the Australian Embassy. With her help and expertise, TSL has high hopes that sales of their products will be better than before.
This month, TSL also had a great opportunity to be featured in a morning daily show “Good Morning Club”. The TSL products were put on display and the center was promoted on national TV, and it was Ms. Farah (TSL’s Social Worker) who helped explain TSL’s programs and services.
April is indeed a great month for the girls and the center! With more supporters like you, we are sure we can make the life of these young girls better! :-)
