What a swimming summer!

With the 2026 Swim For Good project we were able to develop new tools and activities that strengthened and diversified YSR’s aquatic programme. The “Beginner Water Confidence Progression – Volunteer Handbook” provided volunteers and instructors with a practical and structured resource for supporting participants with little or no previous experience in the water. The introduction of water safety workshops, aqua gym and water polo also broadened the range of activities offered to participants.
Another important achievement was the progress observed among participants. Participants were encouraged to challenge themselves according to their individual starting levels and achieved significant improvements in their confidence and relationship with the water, as well as in their swimming skills. In several cases, these achievements were particularly remarkable considering the participants’ starting points and the relatively short period of time available.

The development of new aquatic activities, water safety workshops and practical resources for volunteers helped diversify the programme and provided the team with additional tools to support participants with different levels of experience and confidence in the water. The work of our main coach Camilla with local partners also contributed to strengthening connections between YSR and the wider community.

Beyond the direct activities, the development of ACQUA WITHOUT FEAR introduced new perspectives on how aquatic education can be used to promote confidence, autonomy, wellbeing and inclusion. This exchange of knowledge and ideas has been valuable for YSR and has encouraged further reflection on how aquatic programmes can be adapted to different needs and contexts.
