Dear friends of Sustainable Rural Life,
We are happy to inform you that we have installed 100 clean cook-stoves with support of the National Commission for Protected Areas (Conanp) in San Pedro Tetitlán, Biosphere Reserve Tehuacán-Cuicatlán. In addition, training has been given to the women and their families in the use of the ecotecnologies so they can discover the multiple benefits of using them to cook their everyday meals. The model installed is called Ecostufa and it is saves around 50% of firewood to cook.
San Pedro Tetitlán is an indigenous community, whose inhabitants speak Nahuatl. The community has a strong relationship with Conanp and carry out various initiatives together, including monitoring local biodiversity. Many species have been documented in this region, including jaguar, golden eagle, the green macaw, lynx, deer and badgers.
This next month we will be monitoring the use of the clean-cookstoves installed and we will be helping 10 more indigenous families to get their ecotecnologies. These families are located in a remote community called Atequizayan in the state of Puebla and currently have only one clean-cook-stove for the whole community. They recently contacted FMCN to express their strong interest to become beneficiaries of the project.
Join the project today and help us increase the number of ecotecnologies in order to improve health, environment and household economies in rural Mexico.
Thank you for your interest and support!
