Dear Sustainable Rural Life friends,
In Mexico, priority conservation areas are almost all inhabited by poor rural communities of whom at least 80% rely on open fire stoves to cook their food and purify their water. In response to this situation, we launched the Sustainable Rural Life project with the objective to promote the sustainable use of the natural resources through the gradual introduction of appropriate technologies (such as solar pots and fuel efficient stoves). These technologies would help improve family health and domestic economy in Mexico´s rural communities, at the same time they help reduce deforestation, biodiversity loss and greenhouse gas emissions. This project has also helped promote gender equity by using women as the main receptors of these technologies, and empowering them to improve their family´s overall condition. The final aim of the Sustainable Rural Life project is to become self-sufficient through the use of innovative financial systems, such as microfinances, REDD+ and voluntary carbon markets, all of which are means to raise the funds required to maintain and scale up current operations.
We are so thankful for all your kind donations. Thanks to them, the Sustainable Rural Life project has been able to keep of the work in the five different regions where we work and finance installation and maintenance of fuel efficient stoves. We are so grateful to you all again for believing in this cause and helping us support it. We hope you continue being part of it.
All the best,
Sustainable Rural Life Team
