Dear Sustainable Rural Life friends,
This past trimester has been full of activity thanks to our ally in the Yucatán Peninsula, U’yool’ché AC, who are following the list of requirements necessary to project with certify their fuel efficient stoves as carbon bonds in the voluntary carbon markets. As we mentioned in our previous report, this project has been possible thanks to the funds donated by our social enterprise partner Servicio Continental de Mensajeria (SCM).
In the first week of December, U’yool’ché AC members received the first capacity building workshop in the certification process. During this event, each learned about the details that have to be observed in order to successfully sell carbon bonds certified by the Gold Standard. One of the most important things that were made evident was the need to find additional resources to give the maintenance to the fuel efficient stoves installed in previous years. Due to the heavy use given by cooking, a lot of these technologies require to be replaced and others, even built from scratch again.
The Global Giving donations have made possible to finance some of this maintenance, which has resulted in even more satisfied clients (all of them happy rural women) with almost brand new stoves. We therefore thank you all again for believing in this cause and helping support us; we hope you continue being part of it.
All the best,
Sustainable Rural Life Team
