Dear GlobalGiving Supporters,

I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits! I am thrilled to share some recent updates from our projects in Guatemala, highlighting the incredible progress we've made with your generous support.

Facilitating Access to PROBOSQUE Incentives:

Our continuous efforts to support communities in the Sarstun region have led to significant progress in carrying out conservation activities and receiving payment for ecosystem services incentives. We recently submitted the required management plans for approval, and in February, the National Forest Institute (INAB) conducted a thorough supervision of a 22.5-hectare polygon in the Community of San Juan. Upon receiving the favorable opinion from INAB, the community will be granted the first payment of forestry incentives. This conservation modality will provide the community with Q2,700/year/ha for the first 15 hectares and an additional Q500/year/ha for the remaining hectares over a 10-year period.

Promoting Community-to-Community Learning:

In March, we organized a remarkable learning exchange on agroforestry and beekeeping best practices between our partners in the Sarstun region and the communities of San Juan and Nuevo San Lorenzo in the municipality of Ixcán el Quiché. Over the past 9 years, EcoLogic has been validating agroforestry system models and beekeeping processes in this area. The tour had a profound impact, as participants witnessed the outstanding results achieved by producers in Ixcán, sparking their interest in the recovery of degraded soils.

Honey Harvest in Ixcan:

May brought another milestone as we supported the beekeepers in Ixcan with their second honey harvest of the year. We invite you to witness the incredible process through this captivating video. Your contribution has played a crucial role in empowering these beekeepers and fostering sustainable livelihoods.

We are immensely grateful for your unwavering support. Your dedication has made a remarkable difference in the lives of the communities we serve. As we continue our efforts, we promise to keep you informed about the progress of these activities throughout the year.

Thank you for being a champion of change!

In solidarity,
