We hope everyone has been well. It is always surprising how fast time flies. For GlobeMed at CU-Boulder, we have been working hard to bring some local events to fruition and bring more awareness to our mission. With the school year in full force, we have numerous old as well as new faces participating in our organization's work which is very exciting.
Just as a refresher about our organization, GlobeMed is a network of students at university-based chapters who support partner health organizations in developing countries, organize global health education opportunities on campus, and lead trips to work in our partner’s communities. Our mission is to strengthen the movement for global health equity by empowering students and communities to fight for a world where global health equity and social justice are accessible for all.
GlobeMed at CU-Boulder has been very busy as we prepare for our upcoming annual Benefit Dinner. The event will be on Sunday October 28th at the Staenberg-Loup Jewish Community Center in Denver. We are very excited as Anil Parajuli, the founder of Himalayan Health Care (HHC), will be visiting and speaking at the event. GlobeMed and HHC will be celebrating HHC's 26th anniversary as well as If you are in the area, we would love to see you there! As with all of GlobeMed's activities, 100% of Benefit Dinner's proceeds will go to HHC and their work in Nepal. This year we continue to work to support HHC's two main projects. Both are encompassed in our GlobalGiving page. The first is the "One-Home One-Toilet" project, which benefits community members in rural Dhading and decreases the spread of waterborne illness. The second, is the building of the new secondary school in the town of Lapa. Specifically, for the school we hope to raise the last $37,000 needed to construction the school. Both of these projects will hopefully result in priceless impact on individuals, economies, and the future of the Dhading district.
