CDRS starts Youth and Women's Empowerment projects

CDRS built water tanks and wells for poor villages
CDRS built water tanks and wells for poor villages

CDRS has maintained our commitment to serving Pakistan and the long-term needs of its most needy citizens.  We are proud to enter our twelfth year of operating in the country and responding to every major emergency.  Our medical and logistics teams continue to work in every corner of the nation - from our Mother & Child Health Center in Swat Valley to our mobile medical teams patrolling the most remote and neglected villages – and remain ready to deploy necessary personnel and resources to anywhere in the country within 24 hours of a disaster event.

The CDRS team is now utilizing our success in times of disaster and our network of humanitarian partners to implement new programs that seek to empower those individuals capable of furthering the humanitarian cause and transforming their own society from within.  We have always held the health needs of mothers and children dear to our hearts, and it is in that spirit that CDRS has started our newest initiatives: ‘CDRS Women’s Empowerment through Social Entrepreneurship’ and ‘CDRS Youth Leadership and Community Service.’

CDRS Women’s Empowerment through Social Entrepreneurship

The health and welfare of women determines the condition of the society they live in.  CDRS is giving women in remote and economically depressed areas of Pakistan the means to earn a living for themselves and contribute to the financial needs of their families.  Many of the women in these poor communities had already taken on making and selling clothing and crafts as an additional source of income.  However, they were unable to earn much money in a limited market and without access to more quality materials.  We are providing any poor woman willing and able to learn the skills training necessary to make embroidered clothing, arts and crafts, food and other products.  CDRS gives them the platform to reach international markets and customers and earn much more than they could before.

This project has already generated $30,000 USD in additional funds.

CDRS Youth Leadership & Community Service

CDRS and the CDRS Youth Leadership and Community Service Project are empowering the next generation of Pakistan’s humanitarian heroes.  CDRS Youth is harnessing the energy, creativity and ambitions of college and university students and young people by instilling a spirit of volunteerism and allowing youth to take the lead in serving their community on their terms.  We have already established ten CDRS Youth chapters in key cities and towns across Pakistan, and more and more students are coming forward with a desire to do something good for their country every day.  Each chapter is given semi-autonomy to decide what community service projects they take on, while CDRS oversees their efforts and supports volunteers with the resources they need.

CDRS Youth members have already conducted clean water projects, poverty alleviation projects, community trash cleanup, planted trees, flowers and community gardens, provided regular computer lessons and other specialized instruction to grade school aged children, distributed Iftaar dinners to the poor during Ramadan and much more.  We are also training interested members in disaster response, and mobilized our Karachi chapter during the Heat Emergency.  The Youth team provided over 9,600 people with Iftaar meals, juices, ice, hygiene supplies and medicines worth $5,000.

Please Support CDRS and our Commitment to the Future of Pakistan!

Our efforts to meet the health needs of the most poor and empower the women and youth of Pakistan would not be possible without your support.  No amount or offer of assistance is too small.  Please see more of our work and contact us with any question anytime at our website www.cdrspakistan.org or our social media pages.

Thank You!
