Dear Friend of Ishahayi -
2013 has been a prosperous year for the students, teachers and school facilities supported by the Ishahayi Beach School Foundation. This success is due to your continued love and consideration. Your financial support is not just “sustaining” The Light School—it is helping the school to thrive.
At The Light School, junior secondary classes have been conducted in earnest. The junior secondary students take pride in their new, advanced textbooks and new uniforms, and they are role models for the younger students.
Many of the school’s students have taken on our "Reading Challenge" and earned a new backpack. The computer lab is back up and running with three computers and a new printer. Additional teachers have been hired. The school is also lucky to be using a new noiseless generator and a recently renovated kitchen.
As we visited the students and teachers at The Light School at Ishahayi before the holidays, there was a great appreciation for all our support. The joyous dancing and singing really make all of the hard work, fundraising efforts and long trips out to the school so worthwhile. These children are the future of Nigeria, and as we heard,
The future doctors, lawyers, nurses, teachers and politicians (including perhaps the President), are very likely sitting in front of us now, being taught all the things they need to know to help them to grow and Nigeria to prosper.
Let's be proud that we have all played a small role in giving these students a chance to succeed. Happy New Year, wherever in the world you are, and thank you again for your continued support!
