Many children in Zambia come from vulnerable backgrounds and face challenges that affect their access to education and ability to learn. Hunger and limited access to nutritious meals can affect children's concentration, attendance, and participation in class. Hearts Educators helps bridge this gap by providing meals to children alongside educational and community activities, helping them stay engaged in learning while supporting their wellbeing, dignity, and participation.
Many children from vulnerable and low-income households in Zambia have limited access to food. This makes it hard for these children to attend class, concentrate and remain engaged in school. When hunger is not addressed, educational support alone, is not enough to create an environment in which children can thrive.
Through this project, we aim to support approximately 500 community school children with meals over a 12-month period. The project will aim to reach approximately 500 children through 10 organised meal-support activities, providing an estimated 5,000 child-meal occasions. Through this project, we will help address an immediate barrier to participation and wellbeing of children.
Over the 12-month project period, approximately 500 children will benefit from meal support. By helping address the food barrier, the project will contribute to a more supportive learning environment in which children can participate with greater comfort, dignity and engagement.
