In the first quarter of 2026, this project continued to support one of Cambodia’s remaining independent newsrooms in delivering accurate, public-interest reporting in a challenging environment. Over the past three months, the newsroom published 196 credible news stories, including 135 articles, 39 videos, and 22 photo stories and infographics, as well as 153 in-depth reports and 4 investigative stories on key social and community issues. These reports reached approximately 41,095 online users via the website and 2,570,028 users on social media.
Among the published stories, three were selected for reference as they highlight key public interest concerns, including Indigenous communities’ fears of land grabs near Yeak Laom, around 10,000 displaced people awaiting housing after a border conflict, and the revocation of Panda Bank’s license amid alleged links to money laundering activities. Below are some key investigative stories published during the reporting period.
At least 10 reported cases of violations against journalists were documented during the first quarter, and two local environmental journalists received legal support from CamboJA. The project also supported two advocacy actions related to these cases, calling for their immediate release and access to justice.
We appreciate your continued support and commitment to ensuring access to credible news in Cambodia.
