In South Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo, many women continue to face barriers to education, digital access, and economic opportunity after years of conflict and displacement. Through OGDH-RDC ASBL's Functional and Digital Literacy for Women in DRC project, we aim to support 100 women aged 18–40 with practical reading, writing, numeracy, and smartphone-based digital skills. These are simple but powerful skills that can help women access information, communicate more confidently, manage everyday finances, and explore new economic opportunities.
We are currently in the preparation and resource-mobilization phase. Our team is identifying trainers and potential learners and preparing the conditions needed for implementation. We want to be transparent with our supporters: the project has a fundraising target of US$140,000, and no project funds have yet been raised. The training activities therefore have not yet been presented as completed. Our immediate priority is to mobilize the resources needed to turn this plan into action.
We are deeply grateful to GlobalGiving for giving OGDH-RDC ASBL a platform to connect this local initiative with donors around the world. We believe that, through this partnership and the generosity of our supporters, we can reach our fundraising goal and give 100 women an opportunity to build skills that can benefit themselves, their families, and their communities. We invite you to join us: your contribution can help transform a training plan into a real opportunity for women in South Kivu. Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged this project so far.
