The first phase of https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/growing-vegetables-in-1000-families-in-uganda/ was started after receiving of first disbursement of first grant from GlobalGiving of $299.45USD on 31/January/2024 into Rejoice Africa Foundation bank account by the end of February with 13 vegetable gardens established in 13 families and making total of 40 vegetable gardens in 40 families in first phase and phase two as the direct beneficiaries beginning to harvest Carrots, Cabbages, green paper local spinach (dodo), cabbage and eggplant. In addition, families are harvesting and sharing. While women are the main gardeners, spouses and children are beginning to join in on the tasks and the trainings offered by Rejoice Africa Foundation horticulturist and project leader, Kellen and Robert.

In the next few months, the project will concentrate on establishing Phase 3 “Care groups”, gardens, group trainings, gathering data on garden nutritional, health and gender impacts, and fundraising to pay the costs of Phase 2 and Phase 3.
