Developmental work is Tough
Developmental work is Tough and sadly much unappreciated by many. However, our Foundation is so thankful for all donors who so willingly and sacrificially gave to this cause.
In our Foundation, we consider this Project of "Character and Leadership Training for Thai Youths" a MINISTRY, where we intend to minister to the needs of those whom we contact, be it a child, a youth or even an adult. We hope that through our program and activities, our clients will aspire to grow to be stronger, more resilient and in turn help others as they have been helped.
It is truly tough work, mostly unseen, rather low-key, where charities are concerned as results are not immediate. In fact, many-a-time, heartaches and tears accompany the process.
Oh (a boy) who grew up in the slums, would be considered to be an abandoned kid. He was looked after by his aunt, who also lived in the slums. He was constantly in trouble, had many female partners, was on drugs and basically jobless most of the time. When in his twenties, he already had a son of around 10 years old, who was also looked after by the same aunt who brought him up.
Our Foundation partners another organisation who also works with Oh. Through the years, he gradually began to change for the better as he was slowly ushered into a caring community who wanted to help him. He then entered into a Bible college for a very basic education, as he did not finish high school.
As he grew to be more confident of himself, he began to be involved with the children and youth program of our Foundation.
We had the privilidge to also help him in his leadership development through the trainings, planning and organizing of programs.
" I never would have imagined myself to be standing here doing this..." Oh commented when congratulated on him looking so smart when he was giving out awards to the kids in his slum community.
It took alot of "heart"-work to get to where Oh is today... on his part, on the part of his family, the community and from donors like you.
The Foundation appreciates every single baht that you as donors have given and hope for your continued support in a cause to nuture and give hope and empowerment to kids like Oh.
Best Regards and Happy Songkran to all supporters!
