It's VIRTUAL-ly Christmas already: Online yet On-site
CHRISTMAS... is a time when we remember and celebrate God's greatest Gift to mankind. Therefore, we emulate and Christmas to us ..became:
A time of giving and receiving gifts.
A time of love, for reunions and hugs and to touch others with human kindness.
MEANWHILE,
COVID has attempted to foil our joy and celebrations, by distancing and separation.
HOWEVER,
The human spirit cannot be dampened when it has a goal to fulfil. Creativity and ideas overflow crossing even physical borders that had been put up.
A group of overseas Volunteers who had decided 10 years ago, to include in their plans, to spend their hard-earned vacations in Thailand, visiting and interacting with our children and youths during the Christmas season. They were willing to spend their time, energy, finances and resources to spread the Chistmas cheer.
The Volunteer, MT says, "It has been 2 years since we visited Thailand, and it was Ling's idea to our group to try this out, as it was in her heart to reach out and cheer the children and youths, this Christmas. Since there are restrictions on overseas travel this year, perhaps a virtual event can be held instead!?!"
The idea of doing a program of fun and interaction, coupled with receiving goodies for the children and youths slowly became a reality when planning, videoing taping, editing, fund-raising, coordination between overseas and Thai contact persons, together with logistical arrangements, etc started rolling.
AS A RESULT,
as many as 1,700 young people are set to be involved in this project and as the virtual event is shown via the internet to the various locations around Thailand, Goodie Bags would have been sent to that location in advance, so that during the program, the young people will be receiving their Christmas or New Year gifts.
We are thankful to all donors who have contributed to our project, so that meaningful and memorable events like these can take place to touch the hearts of Thai children and youths during this period of hardship (eg unemployment and eviction) experienced by their families.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
from Foundation for Life Board, staffs and members.
