Christmas With A Difference
2020 has been a very unique year, to say the least, and it's uniqueness has been global for all. It has been unique because COVID-19 has basically cancelled all gatherings and activities that our developmental work is based on, yet it is not SO unique because the whole world experience the same.
When all gatherings and activities for the children and youths had to come to a screeching halt, a number of them have been left somewhat "high and dry", as poverty and poor living conditions for these under-privileged became isolated causing more stress and anxiety.
However, despite the challenges, our small but tough Foundation was able to garner help of some volunteers to sew masks, prepare lunch boxes and deliver these necessities to those who needed them most.
Meanwhile, use of social media to educate our members in handwashing hygiene and proper wearing of masks and safe distancing were emphasized. We were also able to engage volunteers who helped to design a reflective journaling diary during the lockdown for the children.
As lockdown regulations started to relax, certain activities were allowed with safe -distancing and temperature taking enforced. Although Christmas Celebrations this year has been much subdued, we were able to conduct it in smaller groups with our Young Leaders playing bigger roles in running the annual event.
However, it is with sadness to report that of recent days, there has been an upsurge of COVID cases in Thailand, and in fact, just yesterday, after our staff went to do the banking for the Foundation, it was reported that this particular branch had a bank-staff that contracted COVID.
We do covet your prayers for safety for all, because this infection has truely come nearer "home" and indeed would impede much of the work that our Foundation hopes to do.
Thank you for your support and we hope to have your continued partnership for the year to come.
Here's wishing you all a VERY HAPPY, HEALTHY AND PROSPEROUS 2021, despite all the challenges!
Best regards,
Vena Lung
