When Doors are Shut, God opens A Window
When the COVID-19 pandemic started to spread around the world, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha declared a state of emergency, with a curfew in effect . With that, many shops, businesses and eateries were either shutdown or badly affected, as staying home and working from home became the new normal. Traveling was restricted and all activities grounded to a halt, as in many other countries around the world.
When the lockdown extended from a month to two, many who live from hand to mouth lost their jobs, especially those who live in the local slum communities. They are largely the daily waged workers who basically have no form of protection nor government support to rely on, in the initial days.
As parents were unable to work for a living, the children who were in our programs were inevitably affected. Studying from home was very difficult as majority had no digital devices to help them get connected to their teachers, and even if they had simple mobiles, they could not afford the data package that was needed.
To those affected, it was certainly a door that was shut for them. But thank God,He opened a window.
As it got harder for the families, the Foundation is grateful to have found generous donors were forthcoming in donating staples and daily necessities for us to reach out to our members and the needy families in the slum community.
Donors also enabled our foundation to partner with another charity to help cook and distribute lunch boxes and soymilk to the community there.
It was heartening to see our young leaders taking part in this venture to help others, even in the midst of their own difficulties. Together with staff, volunteers and our young leaders, we were able to help provide lunch boxes for about 4 weeks to the community.
The young leader, 'M' said, "I am glad to be able to lend a helping hand in distributing these lunch boxes to needy families, since some are elderly and disabled and unable to come out of their homes. I will be here again next week to help."
We are grateful for all the kind and generous donors who have partnered with us in developing youths and "vaccinating" them with good values when they are young, so that they will grow to be adults of moral character and leadership.
We look forward to your continued support, and may you be protected and thriving in these days.
Best regards

ps any comments or feedback to help improve our services to our youths are most welcome.
