Help Ugandan Youth Earn Nursing Certifications

I recently received a message from a former student of Mayanja Memorial Medical Training Institute who  was a beneficiary of a Global Giving scholarship. He completed his course as a certified enrolled nurse in November 2014. Here below is his testimony in his own words:

Dear Sir/Madam

The sponsorship enabled me to clearly understand how to apply preventive measures. I performed well since I was not on tension of paying tuition. The sponsorship helped me to access medical skills from the institution and apply them in daily practice.

It was through this sponsorship that I achieve my dream of supporting clients by offering them health services. The sponsorship helped my parents to focus on my siblings since they did not have enough money to support my course. It helped on the burden of paying tuition.

What am I doing in relation to my course is listed below;

Am able to dispense medicines to the clients.

Am able to perform all kinds of nursing procedures to the clients

The course has enabled me to prioritize clients basing on the severity. (That is identifying who needs immediate attention)

Participating in infection control programs in order to reduce on nosocomial infection

Am able to offer primary health care services with self-determination and self-reliance.

In this regard therefore I would wish to be considered in case there is any opportunity of sponsoring me while offering diploma in nursing from the same reputable institution. Being awarded the chance to study further in my field is an incredible opportunity for me and one I intend to seize wholeheartedly without reservation. I have consistently proven throughout my previous studies and working experience than when presented with an opportunity I will strive as hard as I can to best represent myself and reward those who have granted me a chance to prove such.
