Various forms of assistance and support have been provided to 96 victims and members of their families (41). 3759 assistance services (urgent, medical, psychological, legal, educational/professional) and other forms of support have been provided to (potential) human trafficking victims and citizens.
Part of the aid was implemented through direct contact with the ASTRA Support Team in the field (120), in places where beneficiaries reside or in the nearest city, as well as through consultations organized at ASTRA's premises (45). We sent 94 letters to institutions regarding (potential) human trafficking victims.
Information and field support to victims and individuals at risk, with a focus on returnees from Germany and other countries, were also provided by 10 field collaborators covering various municipalities and regions in Serbia.
There is a notable absence of adequate measures to ensure the safety of victims, their need was often neglected in favor of prioritizing activities aimed at meeting other needs. Institutions should regularly assess the level of risks faced by victims and adjust protective measures according to their needs and changes in the situation.
Over the past few years, we have faced new challenges. Our previous work experience has helped us navigate these difficult situations, and we have also gained new skills and knowledge to address these issues. While some training sessions were held online, most were conducted in person with participants.
Last year, our educational activities focused on improving the situation of children in the judicial system and included numerous guest lectures by members of ASTRA's team at partner organizations and institutions. These activities have laid the groundwork for the current year.
In terms of informing the general public and enhancing the organization's visibility, we have continued to prioritize awareness-raising campaigns and citizen outreach, all to ensure that information about prevention methods, rights, and available counseling and assistance reaches potential human trafficking victims.
