SUPPORT VICTIMS OF GENDER BASED VIOLANCE - UGANDA

Summary

The 3 years project of Support victims gender-based violence in Eastern Uganda (Pallisa & Kibuku Districts).provides psychosocial support, legal aid, and community awareness to reduce GBV incidence. Current situation: high rates of domestic and sexual violence with limited services; survivors face stigma, poor access to justice and health care. The project strengthens response systems, empowers survivors, and builds local prevention capacity.. this is therefore a 3 month progressive report April to June 2026.

ACHIEVEMENTS

• trained 10 survivors on rights awareness and advocacy
• Facilitated 1 structured group therapy sessions of 15 clients.
• provided 7 survivors with information on their right
• followed-up to ensure 5 survivors receive care
• Provided trauma-informed counseling to 8 GBV survivors
• provided psychological First Aid (PFA) for 15 newly reported case
• Trained 15 community-based paralegals to assist survivors

Challenges

• Limited access to funding to enhance project activities
• Lack of community awareness on gender rights
• Limited support by local leaders
• Stigma exists among men whose rights are violated

Recommendation

• This project strengthen community awareness, enforce laws, support survivors with access to services, engage local leaders, and promote gender equality to prevent violence. Therefore, we request for support to help the victims of gender based violence.
