GFC continues to respond to the emergency needs of children and families in Ukraine as a result of the ongoing Russian invasion that began in February 2022. GFC has disbursed nearly $3 million in funding to over 74 community-based organizations in Ukraine and the surrounding countries supporting refugees.
We provided a range of support to our local partners, alongside fully flexible funding for partners to provide humanitarian assistance including food, warm clothes, safe shelter, transportation, medicine, evacuation support, psychosocial assistance and educational access and public awareness and safety campaigns.
As the impact of the war drags on, and the international attention in the conflict decreases, the need for the services provided by local community-based organizations continue to increase. At GFC, we recognize that this need will likely remain for years to come. GFC's ability to support and fund front-line community-based organizations that support the safety and wellbeing of families effected by this crisis is an important piece of the global response and we remain committed to supporting them as the conflict continues.
We have recently launched our new long-term emergency response strategy, which can be seen attached.
