Since February 2022, GFC has distributed more than $1.7 million to 70+ community-based organizations based both in Ukraine and the surrounding region. We have expanded our reach to over 30 partners in the surrounding countries of Croatia, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, Romania, Poland, and Serbia. These partners have pivoted to address the immediate needs of refugee children and youth and are providing a wide range of services tailored to local community need. Their support includes: finding long-term housing, expanding access to food and nutritional care, offering psychosocial and trauma care, assisting with finding employment, providing legal support, and ensuring that children have access to online or in person schooling.
Aside from providing the services outlined above, our partners also operate within GFC's four focus areas–from ensuring that children with disabilities have access to medication and mobility equipment, to providing language and cultural integration programs, to preventing violence and exploitation against vulnerable children and youth, to creating safe spaces for children to explore through art and storytelling.
