Through this project, we aim to strengthen the resilience of local communities by raising awareness about child rights protection, providing schooling for orphaned and vulnerable children affected by armed conflict, training local authorities and leaders on Regulation (R1612), and monitoring cases of child rights abuses, thereby offering opportunities for a brighter future. This project contributes to the formal education of orphaned and vulnerable children affected by armed conflict in DRCongo
The child protection situation in Goma is marked by serious violations due to armed conflict, instability, population displacement, and poverty. Children face the compounded risks of violence, family separation, malnutrition, and disease. Access to basic services such as education and healthcare is severely disrupted, while insecurity and crime exacerbate their vulnerability.
The direct beneficiaries of the project are the targeted orphans and vulnerable children in the city of Goma, North Kivu, as well as their biological or foster families, who will directly benefit from the project's activities. The ultimate beneficiaries of the project are the members of their respective communities, who will benefit from the project's impact on the direct beneficiaries.
Reduced Vulnerability: Decreased exposure to risks (mines, violence) and provision of psychological support to overcome trauma. Strengthening Human Capital: Acquisition of basic skills despite instability, breaking the cycle of poverty and offering an alternative to forced school dropout. Social Cohesion: Reintegration of displaced and vulnerable children into an educational setting, promoting social normalization.
