Chipurson Valley in Upper Hunza, Pakistan, is facing a humanitarian emergency after repeated earthquakes and ongoing aftershocks during extreme winter. Hundreds of families have lost safe shelter and are exposed to freezing temperatures. This project will provide winterized emergency shelters, food assistance, blankets, heating support, and basic medical aid to protect vulnerable families-especially women, children, and the elderly-from life-threatening conditions.
Chipurson Valley is a remote, earthquake-prone region in Gilgit-Baltistan with limited road access and fragile housing. A major earthquake in January 2026, followed by continuous aftershocks, has destroyed or damaged homes and displaced hundreds of families. With temperatures dropping below -20C, people-especially children, women, and the elderly-are at high risk of hypothermia, illness, and psychological trauma.
his project will deliver immediate life-saving assistance to earthquake-affected families in Chipurson Valley. Our response includes winterized emergency shelters, blankets, warm clothing, food rations, heating support, and basic medical supplies. Special attention will be given to women, children, elderly people, and persons with disabilities. Community coordination and local volunteers will ensure timely, dignified, and transparent distribution in hard-to-reach villages.
Beyond emergency relief, this project will help families stabilize and recover during the harsh winter while reducing long-term vulnerability. Safe shelter and basic needs support will prevent loss of life, protect health, and reduce trauma. Strengthening community resilience, improving preparedness, and supporting early recovery will enable affected households to rebuild safer lives once seismic activity subsides and access improves.
