Dear supporters,
With the new school year underway, the 45 novice teachers part of Teach For Bulgaria’s 2026 Cohort have stepped into their classrooms. While they are busy planning lessons and engaging their students, we thought that now is a perfect time to introduce some of them to you.
Toni
Toni has known since her school days that she wanted to be a teacher. She worked as an educator in the National Gallery’s education department, guiding children through the art galleries and teaching visual arts. Her dream is to be a primary school homeroom teacher and to accompany the same group of children over their first four years in school and watch them grow.
Ivaylo
Ivaylo gives a brief answer as to why he wants to become a teacher: "I am not looking for an easy path, but a meaningful one." He believes that societal change begins in the classroom and wants to go where the shortage of teachers and lack of attention are greatest. His goal is clear. In two years, he wants to see specific children who are more confident and better prepared because he was there for them.
Velichka
Velichka comes from a completely different field, yet the dream of becoming a teacher has guided her since childhood. She now feels she has found her place and wants to prove herself worthy of it. She is now taking on the role of teacher for the first time. She brings a wealth of ideas and is looking for ways to structure them. She is also considering the role of new technologies in the classroom, believing that apps should not be used for their own sake but should lead to tangible results.
Thanks to your continued support of our mission, we are able to help novice teachers like Toni, Ivaylo, Velichka and their colleagues be the inspiring teachers that children need to realise their full potential. Thank you for being part of the movement!
Gratefully,
The Teach For Bulgaria team
