Rooted in Progress

By James Aleko | Project Director

Dear Supporter,

Your incredible generosity to our "Support Smallholder Farming: A Path Out of Poverty" project (#60127) is making significant strides in empowering rural farmers to break the cycle of poverty. Here's a snapshot of our progress:

  • Empowering Farmers: We're providing smallholder farmers with the necessary tools, training, and support to increase their yields and income, ultimately lifting their families out of poverty.
  • Sustainable Agriculture: In the last implementation period, our project focuses on sustainable agriculture practices, enabling farmers to improve their livelihoods while protecting the environment.
  • Market Access: We're working to improve market access for our farmers, connecting them with buyers and enabling them to sell their produce at better prices.
  • Poverty Reduction: By supporting smallholder farming, we're contributing to poverty reduction efforts. Agriculture is a proven engine for poverty reduction, with growth in the sector being more effective in reducing poverty than growth in other sectors.

Key Outcomes:

- Increased Income: Farmers are experiencing increased income due to improved yields and market access.
- Improved Livelihoods: Our project is enhancing the overall well-being of farming families, enabling them to afford basic necessities and improve their quality of life.
- Sustainable Food Systems: By promoting sustainable agriculture practices, we're helping to ensure long-term food security and environmental sustainability.
