Dear Friends,
As we near the end of August - and Leah's time in Peru - we'd like to take a moment to share with you the amazing work our kids have accomplished.
Reaching out to the local community, we were able to recruit 10-12 enthusiastic girls (and one boy) to form the youth group, EmPOWERment. These group of hard-working individuals worked closely for the past few months towards the grand opening of their own bakery. Under Leah's guidance, they wrote a comprehensive business plan, created a budget with the prices of ingredients and cooking utensils, and prepared a marketing plan, complete with posters. After months of hard work, they greeted their first customers under their official banner proudly displaying the name of their new business: "Cafeteria Leah and Friends"!
We invite you to check out our link below for a video on the steps taken towards this grand opening. We look forward to sharing with you more updates in the coming months. Remember to follow our blog or like us on facebook to follow along in real-time!
