Dear Partners,
Greetings to you from HEARDS - India!
We are very much thankful to all our donors for your generous support towards the maintenance of the vehicle because this can be a great way to get the kids safely to the centre and back home safely. Especially this vehicle has also become like a School on Wheels during the COVID-19 period which is the only source where we were able to provide education as the centre gets closed during the month of March 2020.
Many of our teachers come from the slums/villages that we serve or other villages that are similar in profile. These slums/villages were fairly unaffected by the Coronavirus pandemic and they were quite open internally while not allowing free movement to people from the outside. The children in these slums/villages were anyway playing with other children in the village and moving about within the village. We felt we could start small local schools in villages where our teachers live. The children will come to the school for a little while and the teacher will give them some activities to do during the class or at home till the next class. This will enable the teacher to handle multiple batches one on each day and thus keep the class size small. In the slums we utilised our van as school on wheels (mobile school) will help in developing necessary academic, social and cognitive skills in the children. This concept helps in the overall development of the children.
Now the centre has been started and we have utilised the vehicle back towards picking up at home towards the rehabilitation centre and dropping the kids back at their home.
Your donations helped a lot during this pandemic period. Thank you so much for your valuable support. I request you to please kindly share this with your friends and relatives as this is one of the inevitable projects of HEARDS.
Thanking you,
With fond regards,
