Project Report for Making Healthcare a Human Right – COVID 19 pandemic
We have been able to create an everlasting transformation in the lives of more than 175 underprivileged children and with your support we will touch many more lives……. We are really proud to be associated with GlobalGiving Team for the support they are rendering to Abhilasha Foundation. and saving the lives of underprivileged children.... Together we can eradicate poverty, illiteracy, malnutrition and violence.
In the wake of COVID 19 pandemic Abhilasha Foundation initiated the process of relief services in different parts of slums in Mumbai to meet the pressing need of the afflicted, especially the daily wagers, poor, needy and physically challenged people living in the slums. We analyzed to understand its situation and its seriousness of the outbreak. Our team understood the crisis and provided support to the migrants who are the daily wage workers who will be the most affected during this pandemic crisis. Abhilasha Foundation started the first step of support by distributing Dettol, face masks, hand gloves, face wipes, hand sanitizers, and other toiletry items etc. to the old age home. Subsequently we began ration distribution to the daily wagers which included food grains, spices, oil, potatoes, onions, sugar, salt, spices, chocolates and biscuits to the migrant children and daily wage workers families in Mumbai slums. COVID 19 pandemic has brought many challenges to the world and it has affected the lives of many people. The hospitals are closed due to the pandemic. But our team is there in the field distributing foodgrains to the migrant laborers who are the most affected. Our team is working continuously with the communities to ensure social distancing and wearing masks to protect themselves from COVID 19. The migrants were very happy to receive the foodgrains for one month from Abhilasha Foundation and they learned social distancing. We instructed the community volunteers to take care of social distancing and making the line or a circle 6 feet away to maintain social distance while standing in line and also informed them to cover the face to carry the activity smoothly. Children below 10 and Senior citizens were not allowed to collect the foodgrains as per the government guidelines. The community volunteers were also announced to form que and then only they will distribute foodgrains to them. This was captured by a news channel INSS News. After viewing the news many community volunteers of various slums started contacting us for foodgrains. We have covered more than 30 slums till today and we have touched more than 4980 beneficiaries and we are still counting for more… Abhilasha Foundation team is committed even during this difficult time to continue to serve the poor and the needy daily wage workers.
