In the past months our NPH México Rebuilding Force has concentrated on delivering new homes to middle school boys, young girls and kindergarten children. You can scroll the report attached to see the photos of the new houses.

We would now like to mention two events that marked the summer months at NPH Mèxico, two happy moments for our NPH family!

In July NPH Mexico students donned their black gowns and threw their caps into the air as they celebrated graduation with loved ones and friends.

It happens once a year, but it is always an important week on the NPH Mexico calendar: when the pequeños take center stage and enjoy the fruits of their hard work in front of teachers, school principals, home directors, godparents, families, and friends. The Class of 2019 was no different, with a total of 221 students graduating, consisting of kindergarten, elementary and middle school, and high school pequeños.

Rafael Bermudez, NPH National Director, explained, “Seeing our children graduate is a personal joy. I believe that we break the cycle of extreme poverty through education. I see how NPH supports education and finds the best educational talent to support the children. I’m so very proud.”

NPH Mexico celebrated its 65th Anniversary on Friday, 2 August 2019, marking the date that Father William B. Wasson founded the organization and the NPH Family.

Members of the Hermanos Mayores program, pequeños who grew up in NPH Mexico, began the weekend festivities in Cuernavaca gathering with friends of our home who have been close to us all these years.

The celebration continued on Saturday at the NPH Mexico home in Miacatlán  when our guests, NPH children, and youth kicked off a day of sporting activities, beginning with the traditional men’s soccer tournament followed up by men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball tournaments and, for the first time, a women’s soccer tournament. The funfair was a lot of fun for our smallest kids who passed many hours enjoying themselves on the many different rides while taking advantage of the food and sodas laid out for this special date. Guests were finally treated to Los Chinelos, traditional dance and music from Morelos.

Thank you for following and supporting our NPH family!

We are glad to share the latest accomplishments from our rebuilding team in Miacatlàn.

Recently at Casa San Salvador the construction of 2 new homes was completed, and 3 other homes were entirely refurbished. Two beautiful new houses offer nice spaces and privacy to 32 girls and their caretakers, while San Tarsico and San Juan Diego are the houses where 32 boys enjoy their own space and study area. For the little ones Casa Santos Inocentes offer now a large playing area full of light and fresh air.

In this letter we would like to take a bit of your time to mention  that in 2019 we celebrate the 55th anniversary of NPH.

Our founder Fr William Wasson started the mission of Nuerstos Pequenos Hermanos in Cuernavaca, México, giving shelter to the first pequenos: it was the first chapter of a long story of love and security, responsibility, sharing, work, faith and service.

In 1954, a child was arrested for stealing the box of alms from a parish in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. A young priest, from the United States, Father William Wasson, was not willing to press charges against the young man, instead of asking for custody of the boy. A week later the judge sent him eight more homeless boys. At the end of the year, there were already 32 children, and "Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos" was born.

In the fertile valley that was the personal property of Hernán Cortés, is the place that used to be a sugar plantation and today it is known as Casa San Salvador. This 130-acre site has been the primary location of the NPH Mexico family since 1970. The house is always full of activities with the more than 430 children who live, play and study there and is located in the town of Miacatlán, which is 77 miles south of Mexico City. The Casa San Salvador facilities are very extensive and give the feeling of a small town with cobbled streets, arches full of bougainvillea and a beautiful landscape. On the campus of Casa San Salvador is kindergarten, primary and secondary, there is also a chapel, dining room, kitchen, clinic, offices for administrative staff and a farm with chickens, sheep, pigs, as well as fruit orchards and vegetables.

More than 19,000 children have been raised in the NPH family, which now has homes operating in nine countries: Mexico, Honduras, Haiti, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, Peru and Bolivia. Currently more than 3300 children are cared for in an environment of love and security.

Your support is so important to the work of NPH. Thank you for joining and supporting our cause.

Welcome to the NPH Family!

A number of major interventions has been made at Casa San Salvador in Miacatlàn in the past months.

We are happy to announce the kitchen building is back to being used, our children are again eating their meals in their dining room! Soon we will begin the rehabilitation works of the kitchen.

In two dorm homes the rooms are being refurbished and subdevided to house smaller groups of children. The foundations have been build for new homes.

The blacksmiths are manufacturing new bedroom closets and mounting windows and doors.

The Southern and Western perimetral wall of the property was 100% completed by the contractor. It's an important endeavor for the security of the NPH coummunity.

The hydraulic network was refurbished. The old network was dismantled, the new one is now connected to the water tank and fully operating. Demolished areas were repaired. Water pressure was tested to satisfactory levels.

In the tractor storage area the damaged wall was demolished and is currently being rebuilt.

Tahnk you for your support. Stay tuned for the next update!

We would like to share with our donors the photo story of the enormous progress our rebuilding force has been making to assure the buildings, living spaces and infrastuctures of the NPH home are restored or rebuilt. Images serve better than words to show our commitment to giving our pequenos and the NPH community in Miacatlàn a safe and comfortable place to live, study, work.

The efforts of the last months have been directed mainly to the total remaking of the water piping network. With the refurbishing of the dorms underway, the project of brand new homes has been approved: the building foundations for new homes are now a reality in the middle of the main garden.

Thank you very much and Happy New Year from our children at NPH Mexico!

We never thought that 32 years after the 1985 earthquake, we would feel panic and despair again.

The afternoon of September 19, 2017 changed the lives of many people in Mexico, and for our NPH Mexico family it was not an exception.

Collapsed walls, cracks in our schools which endangered our children, dining hall and kitchen in risk of collapse, inhabitable dorms and many other material damages were the result of the earthquake in our homes.

National Director Rafael Bermudez and his amazing team have  worked diligently over the past year to make advancements as quickly as they could and keep working hard every day on reconstruction.

Please take a moment to open ONE YEAR AFTER THE EATHRQUAKE and see with your eyes what we've done so far.

Thank you for helping the NPH family to get back on their feet again!
