Support Moldovan Children with Cancer

Dear friends, thank you for your outstanding support throughout all this time. Since launch of our project in December 2012, we were able to assist the children’s hematology and oncology departments at the Institute of Oncology in Chisinau with so much needed medical equipment and supplies. We are happy to announce that thanks to your donations we funded our project in full. We will continue assisting the Institute of Oncology in Chisinau as part of a larger project that we will be opening on GlobalGiving soon.

To recap our accomplishments, in two years of our operation, we upgraded children’s hematology and oncology departments with 2 infusion pumps and a monitor for vital signs measurement, as well as volumes of IV caterers, antibacterial filters and transfusion sets. We purchased drips, syringes, sterile dressings and other items. Our last purchase of medical supplies in August 2014 included:

- 200 Discofix C-3 stopcocks, a crucial part of infusion system;
- 100 Sterifix infusion filters that hold bacteria and particles out;
- 100 Infusomat space lines indispensable in safe infusion therapy.

The total amount of our August purchase was 12,023 Moldovan lei or about $823. Overall, we spent 161,892 Moldovan lei or about $11,089 throughout project's life, which includes our interim purchases made in 2013-14 years.

We thank you for being with us and supporting our project so generously. Without your assistance, the lives of 25 children who receive cancer treatment on a single day in Chisinau would have been very different. Please stay tuned as we will be opening a larger project to support all pediatric departments at Moldovan hospitals including the Institute of Oncology. We would like to see you as our continued dedicated donor for the new project, too.
