Activity Report 2025: Empowering Bilingual Leaders to Transform Education in
Colombia.
Thanks to the generous support of GlobalGiving donors, Enseña por Colombia has made
significant progress in empowering bilingual leaders who are bringing transformative
education to some of the country’s most vulnerable regions. In 2025, our organization
deployed 28 Ecos teachers across the national territory. These extraordinary leaders are
working in early childhood, primary, secondary, and high school education, reaching a
total of 22,758 students.
Although public policy has encouraged important efforts to strengthen English teaching,
results in public schools across the country remain low. Aware of this reality, at Enseña por
Colombia we are working to change this landscape through our bilingual Profes
Ecos—exceptional leaders who bring their knowledge and passion into classrooms in
vulnerable communities. Our Ecos not only teach a second language, but also open doors
for children and young people to access a future with greater academic and professional
opportunities. In doing so, we aim to reduce the inequalities that hinder English learning
today, caused by factors such as socioeconomic gaps and unequal access to technology.
With their commitment, creativity, and closeness to students, our bilingual Ecos prove
that English can stop being a privilege for a few and become a tool for equity and social
transformation in Colombia’s public education system.
Our Ecos are currently teaching in diverse regions, including Barranquilla, Cali, Malambo,
Carepa, Chigorodó, Santuario, Bogotá, Barrancabermeja, Medellín, Necoclí, Dibulla,
Tumaco, and Cartagena, among others. Thanks to their efforts, students in these
communities are accessing high-quality bilingual education, equipping them with the
tools to connect with the global community, strengthen critical thinking skills, and
improve their future employability.
International donations through GlobalGiving are crucial, as they have allowed us to train
and support 28 bilingual professionals in 2025. They continue to receive specialized
training and English courses to strengthen their pedagogical and linguistic skills, ensuring
sustainable growth in their students’ academic performance.
Looking Ahead to 2026
In 2026, Enseña por Colombia will launch a new cohort of exceptional leaders through the
Instituto LIDERA, aiming to train 130 new leaders—40% of whom will be bilingual. This
comprehensive four-month training program equips participants with pedagogical
knowledge, leadership skills, and a change-oriented mindset. Participants are carefully
selected for their passion for education, leadership potential, and commitment to equity
and equality. The program also includes a two-year mentorship component, providing
ongoing support as these leaders implement innovative solutions in classrooms and
communities.
With your support, we can bring quality education to the places that need it most. Every
contribution helps make this dream a reality!
Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we are empowering future generations
and building lasting change.
