Narrative Report: Stakeholders Engagement Meetings and Recruitment for the Project "Support Kids with Autism & Down Syndrome in Liberia"

Introduction
The project "Support Kids with Autism & Down Syndrome in Liberia" is a transformative initiative aimed at addressing the critical need for specialized care and housing for children living with Autism and Down Syndrome in Liberia. This initiative seeks to empower families, enhance community support systems, and provide sustainable solutions to improve the quality of life for these children. The project will be officially launched in July 2025 after a series of stakeholder engagement meetings and recruitment activities held from May to June 2025.

Stakeholders Engagement Meetings (May - June 2025)

The stakeholder engagement phase was designed to build a coalition of support and ensure the project's alignment with national goals and community needs. The meetings will held in various strategic locations across Liberia, bringing together key stakeholders, including:

  • Representatives from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection.
  • Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) specializing in child welfare and special education.
  • Parents and caregivers of children with Autism and Down Syndrome.
  • Health professionals, including pediatricians and therapists.
  • Community leaders and advocates for disability rights.

Key Activities

  1. Awareness Creation:
    • Presentations highlighted the challenges faced by children with Autism and Down Syndrome in Liberia, focusing on the lack of specialized care and educational opportunities.
    • Statistics and case studies underscored the urgency of addressing these challenges.

  • Administrative and operational staff for the facility.

Recruitment Process:
