Dear Supporters!
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s 90th birthday, ICAP volunteers and friends staffed a pop up grocery center at the R.I.S.E. (Relate, Innovate, Stimulate and Elevate) Demonstration Center in Washington, D.C., through a partnership with Martha's Table.
Rolling up their sleeves and welcoming folks in need with warm smiles, ICAP fellows and friends helped fill and distribute more than 500 bags of fresh produce. In total, volunteers served 600+ people with healthy food and provided them important information on additional services, including food, education, and clothing assistance offered by Martha's table, at no cost. In addition, volunteers engaged kids through arts and crafts honoring Dr. King's dream for racial equality, economic rights, and harmony.
Afterwards, participants reflected on and celebrated their service at a networking event hosted by ICAP Alumni Association Board Member Ambassador Gina Abercrombie-Winstanley (ret.).
This is another great example of how ICAP Fellows continue to give back and support their communities.
