We would like to share with you our new annual report, despicting HPPI achievements in 2016-2016.
Note from HPPI's chair person, Dr. A. Padmavathi:
Humana People to People India (HPPI) is working towards contribu ng to the Sustainable Development Goals and the e orts of Central and State Governments to achieve the same. HPPI has been able to almost double its outreach during the year and has bene ed more than 2 million people through 60 development projects and 40 micro nance branches across 10 states.
The programmes and projects implemented by HPPI are holis c in nature, are driven by the community, and focus on crea ng development together with the vulnerable groups and the most marginalised in the society. Women Empowerment, gender awareness, women’s rights and providing equal opportuni es for girls are integral focus areas across all our projects.
Our por olio of projects has grown substan ally during this repor ng year, and we have been able to scale and develop replicable project models in the areas of Educa on, Health, Livelihood and Community Development, Environmental Sustainability and Micro nance. Out of the many impressive results during the year, I would like to highlight the following:
1.2 million women have been empowered through various projects and ac vi es through Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship Training, Skill Training, Func onal Literacy and Health Awareness, and more than 60,000 women have got access to microcredit from Humana Micro nance. Across projects, women from both rural and urban marginalised communi es now play an ac ve role in their communi es and have improved their family economy through income genera on and engagement in the nancial mainstream facili es.
40,000 children have been impacted through in-school interven ons aimed at improving their learning levels. These include students from our a er-school programmes for girls, preven ng them from dropping out of school and building their con dence, and students at the ‘Kadam Centres’ for out-of-school children, preparing them for enrolment in formal schools. HPPI is also working with state governments to train primary school teachers – both in-service and pre-service – and has impacted more than 5,000 teachers in 2016-17.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a big Thank You to our more than 60 partners in development – na onal and interna onal organisa ons, corporates, private partners and State Governments – for your support and trust in us that enabled us to bring about a change in the lives of over 2 million people.
With accountability and transparency we are commi ed to further expand and increase the impact of our joint e orts!
