Safe Horizon's Streetwork Project is proud to work with homeless young people, many of whom share painful experiences of being kicked out of their homes because of their gender and sexual identities.
In fact, nearly half of our clients identify as LGBTQ and gender-nonconforming, including 8% as transgender youth.
For this reason, it's incredibly important to us at Streetwork to show our support of the LGBTQ community. One of our favorite ways to show support is to participate in the annual NYC Pride March.
The NYC Pride March represents a yearly opportunity for the Streetwork Project to celebrate our LGBTQ clients and community. At this year's March, we were joined by hundreds of other nonprofits, community organizations, and activists advocating for our community. The Streetwork Project team wore matching Pride shirts designed by one of our Streetwork Lower East Side clients, Anthony Barahona.
We thank you for your support in providing safety and resources to LGBTQ homeless youth every day of the year.
