The terrain in Guyana, both physical and financial, has consistently contributed to its citizens’ healthcare resource scarcity. Remote Area Medical’s Guyana Air Ambulance program is designed to be part of the solution to this problem. RAM pilots connect healthcare providers with patients who live in the less accessible portions of the country.
During May, June, and July, RAM’s Guyana Air Ambulance program provided $151,070 in value of care to 104 patients including 36 children. Nearly 90 caregivers, patient family members, and healthcare professionals also used the service. In this three-month span, RAM pilots logged more than 78 hours of flight, traveled 7,412 miles, and transported 193 people.
