Our Therapists and Families and Their Journey Through COVID

Dear Friend

Thank you for your incredible support during these testing times.

Pakistan has been tested over last 18 months and we are hugely proud of MAITS's ability to adapt and deliver our Community Healthworker Empowerment Programme across the country. Post pandemic, this has been exceptionally challenging.

Lockdowns have proven incredibly difficult by compounding the social isolation of families, but, in spite of this our staff, volunteers and partners in Pakistan continue to upskill health workers to have the confidence and support to best meet the needs of each child.

At Ziauddin University, our lead Master Trainers Hafeez and Afshan have already trained 16 therapists in Hyderabad - who are now directly supporting 70 children through their special needs training. Monitoring and Evaluation is being returned to us after each monthly visit which will enable us to see the impact of their training.

At ACELP Institute of Child Health, all community healthworkers (CHWs) trained have started to make their visits to families. ACELP's staff are in contact with all CHWs - and will be offering ongoing support to them over the next 12 months.

This will be key in understanding how the practical and emotional skills parents and carers impact on a child's life so that they achieve greater independence and self confidence. We are grateful that all our therapists and trainers are so committed to this outcome.

With your support we are making huge progress in spite of the recent setbacks. Our work is continuing and we cannot thank you enough.

If you'd like to discuss any aspect of the projecct further- please get in touch with emma@maits.org.uk and we can set up a call.

Warm thanks. Stay safe.
