Global Giving Report August 2017

Another opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to our donors for your support of our children

Currently we have 35 children in the home they are such a happy bunch and keeps us on our toes all day and all night.

Jerry Giraffe, teaching our children about body pride, the importance of their bodies, saying NO when somebody touches them, the interactive engaging with the programme is bringing about lots of joy for us at the home.

Our careers are also learning how to take the resource into their own homes and into their communities which is an amazing story to share and tell.

Life orientation, life skills are ongoing teaching opportunities our children at Fikelela are becoming more vocal about their feelings.  They are now able to teach children within their classes what they are being taught at home.

We have had the privilege of being taught how to deal with children and their emotions by using “the Russian doll model” and also the “Teddy Bear Cards” These two teaching techniques coupled with our Jerry Giraffe programme has brought about a two way communication with our children.

They understand how special they are by expressing themselves with the aid of Jerry, the talking flower, teddy bear cards and the Russian dolls.  We are teaching that we are their family and so we do care deeply about each other.

Education - our children are dealing very well at School because of the assessments that we have done, we are able to close the gaps with the numeracy and literacy, milestones and measuring monthly their progress.

Baby Yoga has become a favourite stimulating session for both the carers and the children.  Your donation makes it possible for us to use these various resources and skills of volunteers to teach us daily.

We love sharing our stories with you until next time God Bless you all.
