PCI serves to provide for our minority and refugee community in order to sustain themselves and their families. For many immigrant families or refugees coming to the Fox Valley, everyday items many take for granted, such as cleaning products or diapers for their young children, are found to be prohibitively expensive. Many families sacrifice products for good hygiene because on top of other living essentials such as housing, food, water, and electricity, they simply can't afford anymore items.
PCI seeks to rectify that by providing low-income families with the opportunity to recieve free diapers through our diaper program. We partnered with local diaper banks and other non-profits to acquire a large quantity of diapers and other hygenic products like baby wipes, shampoos, and toothbrushes, which are kept in our office space for safe-keeping.
Every Tuesday and Thursday, between certain hours, we open our office doors for at-risk families to come in and be provided a select amount of diapers for each child in their family, enough to last for another month, as well as any other hygenic product the family is in need of. These drop-in office hours are regularly posted to our social media, and we also approach mothers and fathers regularly at various faith-based events or other community gatherings to inform them of our supply and when we are available to assist in providing them with their diapers or hygiene products.
We would like to continue to do this for as long as we can, so we turn to other non-profits and donars to continue supplying us with the means to get more diapers and products in our supply so that more at-risk families can be better provided in the Fox Valley.
