Ahead of the 2026 state elections in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Saxony-Anhalt, democratic alliances and local initiatives are creating spaces for dialogue, solidarity, and participation in response to rising polarization and growing support for far-right parties. Across both states, projects bring people together through public discussions, cultural events, voter education campaigns, exhibitions, and community activities — particularly in rural areas where democratic spaces are increasingly under pressure.
Our ongoing support helps strengthen local civic engagement by supporting initiatives that encourage democratic participation, protect marginalized communities, and promote respectful exchange across different social backgrounds. Through creative campaigns, low-threshold encounters, and public dialogue, these projects foster democratic resilience and social cohesion where it is needed most: in everyday life and within local communities.
