"The Friends House"

By Karen Purdie | Project Leader

The Friends House
The Friends House

On the 25th of July, IRODA was pleased to officially open a new inclusive café in Dushanbe, “The Friends House”.  “The Friends House” is a unique place in Tajikistan where every guest, regardless of their abilities and characteristics, will find a welcoming and friendly atmosphere and delicious food!

“The Friends House” is a relocation and rebranding of the “Dar Yak Zamin” café and catering service that IRODA began as a social enterprise in 2016. With a need to grow its work and the opportunities it provides to young people in Tajikistan IRODA has relocated the social enterprise and opened the doors of a brand-new café, “The Friends House”.

 “The Friends House” will offer:

  • An inclusive environment through its accessible space and consideration of the needs of people with disabilities.
  • Employment opportunities and training for people with disabilities.
  • A venue for training and events that promote social integration and support work being done in Tajikistan to promote the rights and inclusion of every member of society.
  • Continued growth in the social enterprise that supports the work that IRODA continues to do to help children and young adults who have autism or neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families.

We’re excited about the opening of “The Friends House” and the milestone that it represents in the work in Tajikistan growing and moving forward. Thank you for your ongoing support that has made this all possible.
