ActionAid and our partners in Afghanistan are continuing our response across affected provinces with life-saving humanitarian assistance to address immediate needs and support recovery. Ongoing interventions include the distribution of food, non-food items, hygiene kits, blankets, and dignity kits, alongside the construction and rehabilitation of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure. Multi-purpose cash assistance is helping vulnerable households meet their most urgent needs, while cash-for-work activities focused on debris removal and reconstruction are providing families with income as they continue to rebuild their lives following last year's earthquake.
Alongside this emergency relief, ActionAid is investing in longer-term resilience (the second part of our two-pronged approach to humanitarian internvention) by establishing 20 community-based disaster preparedness committees and providing Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) training to 2,000 families. These interventions will aim to reduce immediate humanitarian risks while also working to strengthen communities' capacities to prepare for and respond to future emergencies, as they happen.
In a world where disasters and crises are occuring in greater magnitude and frequency, this will be ever important.
