Support for Afghanistan

Thank you for your support of this project. I'm writing to share a brief update on ActionAid's work in Afghanistan.

As of 2026, the country is still facing overlapping crises, from drought and economic strain to reduced funding and growing health concerns. Hunger and malnutrition remain widespread, and continued and compounding crises are adding pressure on already fragile systems. Earthquakes, as recent as those that struck at the end of 2025, have made things even harder, with hundreds of thousands affected and many families still without stable shelter.

In response, ActionAid and our local partners are continuing to deliver essential support in the most affected areas. This includes food assistance, hygiene kits, and cash support, alongside programs that help communities clear debris, rebuild, and restore basic services. We’re also working to strengthen longer-term resilience through livelihood and recovery initiatives so families can begin to regain stability.

This is very much ongoing work, and the scale of need remains high. Continued support, especially to mititgate these "silent emergencies" (those that are not nearly reported on enough publically), is critical to ensure that we can continue to provide impacted communities with the tools needed to cope with these multiple, overlapping challenges as they occur and beyond, and build towards stable recovery.
