Familias Unidas will speak out to bring attention to cases of torture
This coming June 26, International Day in Support of Victims of Torture
The United Families Movement continues to work tirelessly and grow stronger in its fight for the cases of their loved ones.
Although some members of this group have already regained their freedom, they continue to fight to raise awareness of this phenomenon, which is used as a tool of control and fear.
On this day commemorating support for victims, they will speak and hold a press conference to continue the fight for these cases—cases that are complex to resolve and are not addressed by the state or by the officials in charge.
They continue to deny that torture exists; therefore, there is no intention to uncover the facts, to reach out to the families, or to visit the prisons where those arbitrarily detained—convicted of crimes they did not commit—are held.
Through this platform, where our voices will be heard, Familias Unidas seeks to continue highlighting these cases that we are supporting alongside Frayba, so that hope is what keeps us fighting and we never stop saying that torture exists in Chiapas and must end.
That is why your contribution to our work is so important, so that these cases can be brought to light, giving strength to the families fighting for justice and reparations. And above all, so that the victims of torture know they are not alone.
