Support excluded kids with disabilities in India

Rahul's journey with our partner's project is a remarkable example of how community support can change lives. Six years ago, his parents sought help for his condition but his father left the family after learning his diagnosis. Rahul's maternal grandparents took on the responsibility of caring for him, despite financial struggles that often meant he missed crucial therapy sessions. His mother, a tuition teacher, worked hard to support the family but it was a constant challenge.

With the support of our partner's project, Rahul has made significant progress. Regular therapy sessions have improved his physical abilities, such as balance and motor skills and his communication has improved through speech therapy. Specialised education programmes have also helped him develop socially and academically. Rahul now spends time with other children supported by this project and has renewed a sense of fulfillment and connection with others.

Rahul's grandparents have been a pillar of strength throughout his journey, mirroring his own resilience. The wider community have grown more accepting of children with disabilities through our partner's services and awareness campaigns, it has provided Rahul and many others with a supportive network and belonging that it vital for their growth.

Rahul's story shows the tangible impact of tailored care and community support. Despite facing adversity, he has grown into a resilient young person capable of navigating life's challenges with courage.
