At the time of writing, this report finds HOLA completing our first volunteer trip to Nicaragua in five years. The veterinary portion of this trip has been an enormous success. In partnership with the non-profit Nica Love, our ten volunteers participated in a veterinary fair in the community of Villa Guadalupe on the outskirts of Managua. In the course of one incredibly busy Sunday our volunteers assisted with 89 spay and neuters, helped vaccinate, de parasite and de worm 250 cats and dogs and watched as 57 horses and two cows were either re-shoed, vaccinated or provided surgical care. In the following days our students have been travelling with Nicaraguan vets to the rural communities outside of Leon to help provide veterinary care to a wide array of farm animals. All additional supplies have been donated back to the community and we cannot wait to return to the country to work alongside these wonderful vets again.
