Gudi in one of the Women's Empowerment Training
Gudi in one of the Women's Empowerment Training

Gudi used to work in fields before a Women's Empowerment Programbegan in her village, but now she is a teacher in an Adult Literacy Center in rural Sindh, Pakistan

Gudi is one of the most courageous women in her village who despite her circumstances is daring to teach women in an Adult Literacy Center. With seven daughters and 2 sons, Gudi was not able to educate all of her children because of having no school for a long time in her village.

When Primary Education Project opened a school in her village, Gudi was able to send one of her younger daughter and a son to school. Out of 9 children only two are able to attend school as her elder daughters got married. But for Gudi, even this is a great blessing because there are many more children in her village that have an access to school now.

As a Women's Empowerment Group group opened in Gudi's village, she got selected as a Community Mobilizer. Gudi is also teaching other women in the Female Adult Literacy Center with 20 other women like Gudi are enrolled in the programme.

While Gudi was still learning in the Women's Empowerment Program she received trainings on different topics such as, Girls education, women rights, CLTS and child marriage. These trainings were really effective for Gudi as she learned a lot from these trainings. She understood the concept of why educating her girls is a worthwhile investment. Gudi believes in girls' education and works to encourage other women to send their girls to school.

Gudi has a great influence over all the women in her village and everyone really likes her and want to listen to her. Her efforts and the desire to impact especially women have brought transformation in her village.
