Jamee belongs to a village named as Purkho Patel. Basically, she pertains to a Christian family but her family-in-laws has originated from Hinduism. She is a mother of four children and taking care of them is a huge responsibility for her as she has to look after them, work in the house and labour in the fields. Before joining PEP, She was just a normal house-wife working day and night to fulfil the family’s demands and in the monsoon months she used to collect cotton from fields and gather grass for the cattle which was a very challenging job for her.
She shared her experience of attending WEG trainings in PEP and said “It was a huge opportunity for me to learn, to develop new relationships and to explore the outer world; fundamentally, I learned about women rights, the disadvantages of early marriages, DRR, sanitation and health issues. By taking WEG training I have acquired substantial knowledge about living a meaningful and sincere life and now my aim is to assist my village women to participate in WEG trainings and have a helpful guide by the trainers".
In addition to this, she further stated: “By attending such trainings, I have started to believe in my capabilities and my intelligence and adroitness have also strengthened”. Through trainings, my learning capacity developed at a broader prospect as well as I also got to interact with women of other villages which was quite pleasurable for me as I got associated with them. After attending many WEG trainings and by observing my performance I was selected as an Area Officer and together with that, I am very thankful of PEP that they gave me the right set of circumstances to prove my potential and build up faith in my talents and in myself. The Women Empowerment Group taught me a lot of about communal issues and women rights and when I promoted my knowledge about hygiene, issues related to early marriage and cleanliness to my village women they also acknowledged it and told me that they will also implement on it.
I only endeavour to achieve success in transforming the lives of women in my village so they could live their life with liberty and in pursuit of happiness.
